HIKING

If you enjoy hiking you are in the right place. The high peak area provides many opportunities from easy to quite challenging.  At the house you will find several guide books that will help you decide where to go. There are even some hikes that start right from the resort. Below I have listed a few.

Jackrabbit trail to McKenzie mountain and the Placid Lean-to  you can see the start on the map, that is posted on the kitchen refrigerators. This is about 30 minute hike up to the lean-to and is moderately up hill at the start. If you want to make a longer hike there are trails you can continue to three different areas, all well marked. One is to the Shore Owners Association trail that peaks McKenzie mountain and then descends to Lake Placid going along the shore with stream crossings and a mill site and back to the Whiteface club and Resort. A second route takes you to route 86 and a third route to McKenzie pond road.  The route to McKenzie Pond Road is a popular winter cross country ski.

Jackrabbit trail to town. This is and easy and scenic hike that ends at the Dack Shack on route 86. It starts on Camp Way and goes past the dam at the end of Lake Placid and an off shoot is the peninsula trail nature walk. From the Dack Shack you can continue to town. This is also a good cross country ski in the winter.

Above is the map of the area

Location and activities.

The above map shows where SandbrookDuo is on the Whiteface Club and Resort Property.  It is a short 3 minute walk to our private beach and marina. You can easily access it by , either the sandbrook trail route just over the sandbrook or by road then the path to the beach, a road route is also available with ample parking. For golfers  it is a 2 minute walk from my front door to the first tee. FYI the club house serves lunch and  has a full bar.

SandbrookDuo layout

Bedrooms and full bathrooms.

My home has a family and friend set up. Enough room for all 20 to get together, but more than enough retreat areas. 8 queen beds and 4 twin beds. 8 Full bathrooms. 2 game rooms: one with and arcade quality Foosball game and the other with a arcade SuperChexx game and PS4 player. A very unique feature are my two family suites on the lower level, each with a queen bed and two twin beds and with their own private full bathroom. All bedrooms have large closets and excellent quality bedding.

Outside Decks and Stream

There are four decks. They overlook the Sandbook stream and pool which has a small waterfall and sometimes some "brookies.  Two upper level decks each with enough seating for 10.  There are two Weber grills for your use .The lower level decks each have 6 person Hot Tubs. Between those decks is an open space with a bean bag toss area and an exclusive fire pit, great for SMORES.

Needed a property with 8 bedrooms and 8 bathrooms....hard to find and usually disappointed with the results but this house is PERFECT for large groups of friends or families......very comfortable and very clean .....bedroom and bath arrangement is ideal. Lenny, the owner, is very responsive...I had concerns about bed and bath arrangement and he sent floor plan within a few hours or less! Same responsiveness on any question/concern. Every couple in the group was delighted with the house and its location.

Our group of four families with elementary aged kids loved our week together in this home. The kids loved the creek and game room. Everyone loved the double kitchens, spacious living areas and hot tubs. The marina is beautiful, has a sandy beach, restaurant and pretty views. It’s only a 3 minute walk from the house. The kitchens have everything you need, don’t bother to pack pots and knives. It felt like we were at a friend’s home. At the end of the trip we unanimously decided to come back!

We were exceptionally pleased with everything about the week. Lenny worked with us to modify the cleaning schedule and extend the family reunion by a day, and was very communicative throughout the period leading up to our reunion and during the week (one of the bedroom air conditioners broke and he was immediately on top of it). As for the property itself, it surpassed all expectations and easily accommodated all 18 of us; a beautiful home in a beautiful part of the Country. We've been doing annual family reunions for 23 years and this was amongst the very finest rental homes in which we've stayed. My highest recommendation.

I love to answer questions. My home has been a nice place for family  and or friend get togethers. Enough room for all to be together and enough room for privacy too. 6 Queen bedrooms have their own TV's.
